The Tranz Alpine Scooter Safari is a yearly fundraiser for the NZ Cancer Society in which people ride on scooters from Christchurch to Hokitika on the West Coast.
We had some pretty wild weather and the Arthurs Pass was closed due to a slip, so we only went half way and then back again.
Nick and 5 others rode it on scooters and I was half of the support crew.
After a 5am start and a McDonalds run we were registering and on our way!
It was a beautiful morning, apart from some of the scooters missing the Kirwee turnoff and going to the next stop.
After a stop at Sheffield for an amazing pie we were into the rain!
One of our team's scooters died and we loaded it onto the trailer - with the help of the mechanic.
(I say we, but I just stayed out of the way!)
A rainy lunch at Cass and then home.
The sun came out while we were on the way home and it lit up the mountains - it was beautiful!
Such a great day and such a great cause!
I think between the 6 of them they raised maybe $2000! So awesome! :)
And a lovely little video to finish it off!
