Action Sports: Georgia

The last shoot we did was with Georgia - who we have photographed before, and have always got awesome shots with!

It was another fun shoot and I love the images we got!

It has been such an awesome time photographing all these wonderful and awesome ladies!

If you haven't yet grab a copy of the latest NZMTBR Magazine and give the article a read - I'm quite proud of it :)

Fireworks!

For, what I think, is the third year our flat has avoided where the actual fireworks were happening - New Brighton beach - and have opted for more of an overview of the event.

We carry our moon chairs and hot chocolate up to Victoria Park - wrapped up super warmly, as November is still really cold.

We laugh as we watch the crowds of people try to drive around the summit road, with car lights motionless as the traffic backs up.

After 10 minutes (?) it's all over for another year and the traffic is slowly turning around.

Landscape: Frosty Morning.

We have had two really super frosty mornings this month, one after the other.

The nights are cold and the mornings are colder.

I like the contrast in colour tones between the frost in the shade, and the frost melting in the sun.

This will be the last month of Winter for Nick and I as we are off to Vietnam for the month of August!

I am looking forward to the warm!

Landscape: Night of D'Light

The "Night of D'Light" was part of a school holiday kids programme in the Christchurch Botanical gardens.

It was something that could be enjoyed by everyone - Nick and I were having a great time!

There were a few incidents of Nick swinging the tripod into me and then I dropped my glove - but we went back and found it!!

It was really cool to see everything lit up like this!

Action Sports: Rock Climbing

After two shoots with professional models, we decided that we needed a different pace for the weekend.

Francis and Gert were more than happy to introduce us to "the cave" behind Barnett Park in Christchurch.

Rock Climbing photos is not something we have never done in the past so it was very interesting to see first hand and photograph.

Nick winched himself up on a rope so he could be at the same level as the climbers and we got some cool shots because of it. I have also included an iPhone photo at the bottom of Nick and the set-up!

Adventures: Queenstown/Wanaka

Nick and I have been talking about making a trip to Queenstown for the longest time! We went for a family holiday about four years ago, and since i've started biking he wanted to take me there to ride the trails.

And Furg Burger of course! (last time we had Furg Burger a seagull took all of the chicken out of Nick's burger haha!)

We stayed in a campsite that was surrounded on all sides by mountains and turned our car into a tent.

We checked out the huge jumps on Dream Track, Rode 7 Mile and Rude Rock, walked through the botanic gardens, went to Arrowtown, spent the day wandering around in Wanaka, went on a 3 hour hike in terrible shoes and photographed stars from Coronet Peak.

I apologise for the amount of photos - We had a really tough time trying to get the numbers down!

We were updating our instagram (www.instagram.com/endeavourphoto) while we were away, so there are iPhone photos there. There is also a great photo that shows you why one of the tracks we rode is called "Rude Rock" haha!

It was a great trip away - we are already thinking of where we should go next!

Action: Running Shoot with Melissa.

Melissa is a trainer and really into her sports so she very kindly agreed to be photographed.

It was a perfect day for it, we were up in the clouds at the start and then in the sunshine for the rest of the shoot.

She has the coolest colourful shoes - Love them!

We had a lot of fun and the results aren't half bad.

Enjoy!

(Thanks Mel, hope you like them!)

Adventures: Arthurs Pass.

Nick has always gone on about how he would love to do a hiking/adventure type shoot at a river near Arthurs Pass.

I had no idea what river he was talking about.

I put all my trust in him and said "ok lets do it!"

We roped in Will, got in the car and as her were pulling into the carpark Nick says: "I think this is it?"

And we just went with it.

We were just inside Arthurs Pass National Park.

There were beautiful trees, a glorious river, epic mountains and lots of tourists taking pictures (it must be a beautiful spot then right!) ;)

It turns out it was just perfect and we got some awesome images!

Adventures - Victoria Park

On Saturday we finally started to have some weather that felt like summer.

We decided it was a nice night for a picnic overlooking the city (we being Nick, Me and our three flat mates).

And that's just what we did.

Adventures - Castle Hill

It was windy and warm when we left Christchurch.

There was a bike race happening just down from us and all you could hear were helicopters and a voice over a loud speaker.

It was nice to get away from that into the quiet.

The drive to Castle Hill was an interesting one - the wind was really going for it!

When we got there the temperature had plummeted - jacket weather.

It was so much fun!

Nick was jumping from rock to rock, running around everywhere while I kept my feet firmly on lower ground - it was still incredibly windy and I was finding it hard to keep from blowing over.

The rain came in, but it was nice and refreshing.

We sat in a dug out in a rock and ate our lunch in relative shelter.

And then home before the rain got really bad.

We stopped at a few places on the way home too - some pretty fields, a lake and a run down old shed.

Enjoy!

Adventures - Mt. Cook, New Zealand

Hello all, It has been a while - but I think we are back.

We have decided to end "Adventure Sunday" and not limit ourselves to just Sunday.

Last Saturday we went to Mt. Cook.

We were joined by Nick's cousin - who was visiting from Japan - and a Japanese student who was staying with his family.

It was an early start, complete with a MacDonald's breakfast.

It was fine all the way to Tekapo - where we stopped to show Yoko the church and the beautiful blue-green lake.

Then it was another hour-ish to The Hermitage hotel, which doesn't look that flash until you are right there.

Lunch outside on the balcony with a view of the snow capped mountains, before starting the trek to the lake at the base of Mt Cook.

The walk was chilly to start with - but the sun eventually bet the cool air and it felt almost summery.

A few stops on the way to the mountain to entice our inner children and play with huge sheets of ice.

And then we were there.

I had never seen Mt Cook up this close, and Nick hadn't been here since he was about eight.

We were in awe of the mountains.

The water was almost frozen, and there were ice bergs that had broken off the glacier at the bottom of Mt Cook floating around.

We watched the sun sink below the snow and then decided it was time to move on.

A Japanese restaurant for dinner - that was amazing and then off to see the stars outside the town lights.

I didn't think they were going to be as amazing as they were.

We had to take photos.

Even though we didn't have a tripod and it was cooling off quite fast.

I thought that star photos weren't that bad considering the camera was resting on the lens cap and a bunched up chocolate packet.

The photos don't do the mountain air justice -  it was so fresh.

It was nice to get out of the city for a bit.

Adventure Sunday #15

(The Saturday Edition)

We have been talking about photographing Elysia for a while now...

And on Saturday we finally got around to it.

It was a new experience thats for sure!

We spent two hours being shown the gardens from the perspective of a three year old!

It was AWESOME!

And it also taught both Nick and I that we need to be more fit for photographing children in the future!

Adventure Sunday #14

Ok I know this should be 15 but last weekend was a massive bust so everything got postponed.

This weekend we tried our hand at photographing Trials MTBing (Some of the shots where taken on Thursday) . I reckon we got three or four banger shots from it, this is a sport worth following!

Adventure Sunday #13

Today we had a look around Sumner - which we were ment to do last week, but due to the flu we never got around to it.

Today was a much better day than last week due to the lovely weather conditions.

Something to eat, a walk around the streets and then a walk along the beach.

Perfect Sunday!

Location Scout...

Here's an unexpected blog post.

It was a normal location scout that turned into a magical light show!

The fog rolled in and the sun was bouncing off the hills and the clouds.

It was magical. Cold, but magical!

It was also one of the more popular bike trails in Christchurch - as you can tell...

Keep your eyes peeled for the shoot in the next couple of weeks...

Enjoy!

Adventure Sunday #11

It was just a local trip to the Gardens today - the perfect end to a wonderful long weekend!

We brought Elyse with us and just had a very laid back mellow day in the sun, followed by a pizza and cider/beer.

We have also been enjoying our new 5D Mark III - so so wonderful! ;D

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter break!
